Portofino Italy, One Of The Magic Destination In The World

Portofino World Site is the official visitor site for Portofino in Italy, one of the 8 wonders of the Earth. Today, it remains the place to encounter the world jet-set. Barely 2km in total area, Portofino is nicknamed the prettiest Piazzetta ( square ) on the planet. In effect, this open air "room" is unique and full of wizardry.

Famous World fashion homes have a home in Portofino, for example Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Herms, Emilio Pucci and several others. All are situated on the main street Through Roma, close to the parking area and between the two quays. Molo Umberto I harbour, to the right, and Marconi quay, to the left.

There are more shops situated in the lanes and alleyways, still originally maintained in the ideal Ligurian style, and you will see particular details when you walk around. There are beatiful local shops, specialising in hand made products, for example cashmere, lingerie, bikini's, sandals. Portofino is very known for representations of the perspectives and sights of the Piazzetta and maritime life. There's a wide choice of eateries whose speciality is fish, always fresh. Also the memorable pesto sauce which orignated in this area. All the cafes offer a big choice. A wide variety of wines, especially red and white, which you can drink seated some metres from the sea. This wedding of taste and view is superb, and forces you to chill. A short distance away is the church of St George where you can see the Gulf of Shangri la towards Genova. Otherwise, in the other direction towards Santa Margherita Ligure, you may arrive at the bay of Paraggi a tiny bay known for the particular colour of the sea, distinguished by its blue-green colour. We also counsel that you don't miss the party of the local saint, St George which falls on 23rd Apr, who is recollected with a famous bonfire in the Piazzetta in Portofino.

Its an evening deep in the hearts of the residents, with a massive bonfire, music and seafood specialities. With the bright, warm colours and the scent of carbon, it evokes a romantic emotion. It's an awfully heartfelt holiday and we promote that you go to Portofino in the afternoon, or arrive by ferry which departs from Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure, as there's always a long queue for parking.

Best period run between April to October.

Very romantic sunset and atmosphere.
