A Wet Week in Italy - Campsites Meant For Water

In conventional thinking, campsites and water don?t mix well. Certainly a downpour from the sky can put a dampener on things. However, the options for camping holidays in Italy at beautiful lakeshore and costal locations illustrate that getting wet can be fun. Take a look at these stunning resorts in Italy which prove campsites and water can make your Italy camping holiday a good one.

Italy Campsites near Lake Garda

Lake Garda (or Lago di Garda, in Italian) is the largest and arguably most picturesque Lake in Italy. Camping here is a delight, and there are a number of sites to choose from.

Towards the southern end of the lake is Camping Bella Italia, and this name is no lie, suggesting this area is ?pretty Italy?. Camping on the lakeside here will allow you to relax with a spot of fishing, hire a pedalo, or perhaps venture out in a canoe. And because Lake Garda is the centre of water sports in Italy, camping holidays on the lake could include a spin on a jet ski, the hire of a boat, or even a little windsurfing.

Also on the southern shore is the Camping Butterfly resort, which is a short walk from the water?s edge. From here you can take a trip on the lake?s steamer boats, which are a pleasant way to explore this area of Italy. Campsites here tend to have direct access to the lake and the beaches that line it.

All at Sea in Italy, Camping in Sardinia

Not all of Italy?s campsites are lakeside though. For beach camping holidays, Italy?s neighbour, Sardinia, is the setting for resorts such as Villaggio Camping 4 Mori. Villaggio is located on the south coast of the island, overlooking the sandy beach of Is Perdigonis, and is perfect for relaxing among eucalyptus trees or enjoying the lively resort entertainments.

At the northern end of Sardinia is a place called ?Camping Baia Blu la Tortuga?. With a water-sports school located on site, why not learn to sail or scuba dive on your camping holidays in Italy? Alternatively, the land-based activities here include sun bathing on the glorious beach or cycling through the beautiful scenery.

Water, Water All Around

There?s beautiful scenery of a different kind in the floating city of Venice, probably the most recognisable place in Italy. Campsites here are ideally located for visiting this romantic destination, which is made up of 118 small islands with a maze of canals between them. It is the home of gondolas, carnivals, museums, palaces and the famous Saint Mark?s square.

Camping Ca'Savio is forty-five minutes from Venice. The adjoining beach is several miles long, shelving gently into the warm waters of the Adriatic Sea which washes the East coast of Italy. Campsites in this region here have Waterbus services nearby that will take you into the city.

Pools and Water Parks

Of course, the easiest way to make water part of your Italy camping holidays is to a take a dip in a swimming pool. As well as entertainment for the kids, it?s nice for the adults to splash about and cool down after a day out in the sun. Bella Italia (previously mentioned) has a lagoon style pool with three small waterslides, and you?ll find most campsites in Italy have a swimming pool or pool complex on site. Plenty of opportunity to get drenched and enjoy the camping holidays Italy makes available!
