Simple Specialty Easter Baskets that Make Great Gifts
These specialty baskets take less than an hour to create and can fit any budget. So it doesn't matter how much time and money you have, these baskets can make any Easter more fun, colorful, and lively. It's time to get hopping!
Forest Easter Basket
Here is a basket that is perfect for the children in your life who love nature, animals, and the outdoors. The items that you will need are -
-Plain brown or green wooden basket
-Green specialty Easter grass or shredded tissue paper
-Green and orange construction paper
-A realistic plush rabbit
-Plastic or chocolate eggs (you can substitute hard-boiled eggs if you like)
-Animal crackers or other animal cookies
-Assorted candy
-Scissors and tape
-Optional - 3-D insect stickers (ladybugs and butterflies or other friendly bugs)
Once you have the items ready, you can begin making your basket.
1) Place some brown tissue paper on the bottom of the basket to symbolize earth. Put some green shredded tissue paper or Easter grass on top of the brown paper to represent the grass. You are now ready to start the embellishment.
2) Place the stuffed rabbit in the middle of the basket, which is probably best for both weight distribution and artistic balance, or at the back center of the basket, where your Easter Bunny can look out over the goodies!
3) Arrange eggs and candy around the bunny. Darker colors, like chocolate eggs, are more realistic for your Forest Basket, although you can use any type of candy or jellybeans that you prefer.
4) Place the animal crackers behind and around the eggs, as if they are hiding with the eggs.
5) Make some carrots out of the orange construction paper. Cut thin triangles from the paper for the body of the carrot and make a small rectangle out of the green construction paper for the leaves of the carrot. Shred the small, green rectangle at the top and tape it to the base of the carrot.
Use the size of your plush bunny to gauge the size and number of your carrots. You can even make some lettuce for your bunny with any leftover green paper.
6) If you have chosen to use the friendly bug stickers, you can place them on the basket itself, both the body of the basket and the handle. This will give your Forest Basket even more of a "back to nature" look.
There you have it: the Forest Easter Basket for the outdoorsy child. It is both a celebration of Easter and of Spring at the same time.
Farm Easter Basket
This is a fun and lively Easter basket. It is colorful, and appropriate for kids whether they are rural or urban. The idea of this basket is to celebrate new life in Spring on a farm. The ingredients and items that you will need are -
-Medium basket
-Green and yellow Easter grass or Shredded tissue paper
-Plastic or chocolate eggs (you can substitute hard-boiled eggs if you like)
-4 or 5 fuzzy plush baby chicks or ducks
-Gummy worms, Twizzlers, or Red Vines (optional)
-Assorted small candy.
-Flower 3-D stickers (optional)
-Colorful ribbons (optional)
Here's how to assemble the basket -
1) Line the basket with several layers of green and yellow plastic Easter grass or shredded tissue paper. Try to simulate grass and hay, just like a real farm. The basket should be nearly full with the mixed yellow and green "grass."
2) Place your stuffed chicks and/or ducks into the hay and grass. You can organize them however you like: in a line, a circle, or any other shape.
3) Put the eggs around the baby chicks and ducks in the basket. If you are using plastic eggs, you can use some spare tops by placing them on the heads of a baby chick or two for a realistic look. You could ever have one of the stuffed chicks sitting in the bottom of one of the egg shells.
4) Place some gummy worms or sliced Twizzlers next to the baby chicks for food. This adds realism and gives your own kids something extra to eat from the basket.
5) Add some small assorted candy or marshmallow Peeps as desired.
6) You can add some colorful flower stickers to the basket or handle or tie a ribbon around the top of the basket to form a pretty bow, if you would like.
Now you have your Farm Easter Basket, all ready to go on Easter morning! In this case, it really is okay to put all of your eggs in one basket. Your chicks, too!
Hope that you have lots of fun and good times this Easter holiday with your specialty Easter baskets. They could easily become a new tradition for your family. Happy Easter!
