Easter Games Make A Special Easter Treat

When Easter comes we know that kids want to have fun. The closer Easter gets, the more excited kids become. They want Easter fun and Easter treats. Easter games are a great way to give kids an Easter treat that's actually good for them. Here are a few favorites that I know kids will love.

Easter Riddle Match
This can be a card game or it can be a very special Easter Egg Hunt. Start by cutting egg shapes out of card. Collect about 5-10 Easter riddles and answers. Write the riddles on the egg shaped cards, writing one riddle on a card and the matching answer on a separate card. The cards can then be used for an egg hunt by hiding all of the cards for children to find. When all of the cards have been found, children read the cards and try to match a riddle and answer from the cards that they have found. The winner of the egg hunt can be the child who matches the most riddles and answers.

The Riddle Egg cards can also be used to play a 'Concentration' style card game. Spread out all of the egg cards face down on a table. The players take turns to turn over two cards and read them both. If they make a matching riddle and answer they keep the pair and have another turn. The winner is the player who has the most pairs at the end of the game.

Who's the Hopping Bunny?
This is a game for group of children. The children stand in a circle. One child is chosen to be the Spotter. The Spotter leaves the room or turns his back while a child from the circle is chosen to be the Hopping Bunny.

The Hopping Bunny chooses a hopping movement to make.
Movements might include
- jumping on two feet with hands by sides
- jumping on two feet with hands held up like paws
- hopping on one foot
- bouncing the body up and down with feet not leaving the ground

Encourage the Hopping Bunny to be creative with the actions. Once everyone is making the Hopping Bunny's movements, the Spotter returns to the room and starts to observe the group. The Spotter's job is to guess who the Hopping Bunny is in 3 guesses. The Hopping Bunny changes the movements as often as possible without being seen by the Spotter. Everyone follows copying the Hopping Bunny's movements. After 3 guesses or when the Spotter guesses the Hopping Bunny's identity, a new game begins with a new spotter and a new Hopping Bunny being chosen.

Children may need to be encouraged not to look at the Hopping Bunny as this will give the game away to the Spotter. Instead they can scan the group and change movements when they notice others changing their movements.

Easter Relays
Kids love relay races and the traditional relay race can easily be given an Easter twist by trying some of the suggestions below.

- Human Egg Roll - Make sure there is plenty of space between each team for this one to give children enough space. Also keep the track quite short so that children don't have to travel too far. Each team member has to lie down and roll to the other end.
- Bunny Hop - Instead of running, children hop along the track jumping with feet together and hands held up in front like paws.
- Egg Roll - Each team has an egg that they have to roll from one end to the other. Children have to bend down and push the egg gently to make it roll.
- Egg and Spoon - Give each team an egg and each player a spoon. Players race from one end to the other holding the egg in the spoon and have to carefully pass the egg from one spoon to another.

There are plenty of ways to entertain children at Easter time. These games make a great Easter treat for large or small groups and best of all these are Easter treats that won't rot their teeth.
