Easter Gifts: The Joy of Giving on a Sunday

Easter gifts abound the Easter celebrations, basking the Sunday with a lot of color and joyfulness that children can take part of. Yet, in all our celebrations, let us not forget the meaning and history of what we celebrate.

Easter Sunday celebrations and the practices we know today are largely based on pagan beliefs. Christian beliefs were added later into the holiday mix. Easter Sunday developed from individual spring celebrations into what it is known today: a big holiday extravaganza. Ask a person what the meaning of Easter is, and they'll tell you that it typifies new birth and life. Hence, the Easter rabbit was chosen by ancient peoples as a fertility symbol. This is because the hare is naturally libidinous and produces offspring very rapidly. Children around the world celebrate Easter with eggs. Many games and gifts arose with this practice. This is celebrated because during the past, children believed that the Easter bunny laid eggs on the ground. And so, the festival of Easter eggs got ground as people from all over the world enjoy coloring eggs with a variety of colors and participating in Easter egg hunts.

Moreover, egg rolling is popular in some parts of the world and is practiced in the morning of Easter Sunday. Children, especially in England, would roll down colored eggs from the top of a hill. Many people take the symbolic act to allude to Christ's resurrection when an angel rolled the stone barrier over the mouth of the tomb.

There are many gift items that are totally in vogue with the spirit of Easter Sunday. Most of these Easter goods are imbued with gaiety and joyfulness, since Easter marks new life and hope. Among these is what we just mentioned: the Easter eggs. The eggs are probably the most familiar icons of Easter and the things people are most cognizant about. Hard-boiled eggs, plastic eggs, and even fresh eggs (depending on the game) are used in the making of Easter eggs, and these are often hidden on grasses, shrubs, tree branches and people, as part of egg hunts. When people are in the mood for giving, Easter gifts such as colored eggs are often the most prolific.

The bunny is also such an important figure in Easter. Many try to dress up as the Easter bunny as mascots in Sunday celebrations. A lot of people try to give gift items as small as porcelain Easter hares hung with greeting tags. Sometimes they come in plaster casts and all one has to do to make these beautiful is to color them with crayons or paint. It is at these occasions when we see that Easter is indeed springing forth with colorful life.

There are also gifts baskets that one can give to loved ones. These baskets are designed to carry the main Easter gifts of rabbits and eggs. Yet, aside from that, the baskets can be filled with other goodies other than the Easter staples. If you want to, you can choose to include chocolates, candies, greeting cards, food items, school materials, and others that may serve to give joy to children and adults alike. Easter gifts, like all other holiday-themed giveaways, are now a matter of creativity and imagination.
