In one year, there are a lot of days that we celebrate. These days typically correspond to some important historical event or belief that we generally share, like for instance the celebration of the Independence Day. A lot of people believe that it is important to commemorate something that has influenced us over the years since it has happened. With a nations colorful history and array of beliefs in different cultures, one could only just imagine just how many things there are to celebrate. Sometimes I even marvel at the fact that there are still days that have no commemorative meaning.

As a Christian, I can say that we have our set of celebrations aside from the ones shared in society or in the country as a whole. I believe the most famous celebration to be Christmas, for I have always seen it as the time of the year that people really fuss about, and for good reason. It is one time aside from my birthday that I get all excited about gifts. Another Christian celebration that I love is that day that ends the holy week: Easter day. And as with Christmas, people can get excited about gifts on this day, too. Easter baskets are particularly popular.

The Holy week starts with Ash Wednesday, and then we have the Holy Thursday, the Good Friday, the black Saturday and finally Easter Sunday. This Sunday is basically the celebration of life, for it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ whom we Christians believe to be our Savior. Thus, this day is also symbolized with the giving of gifts. Most of the time it is even celebrated with games and other fun activities. Aside from Christmas, this is one day where people truly have fun and one could really feel the bond between families, between relatives and between friends.

Gifts have always been a symbolic action over the years. It can portray a message, show your love or be a simple way of saying thank you. In the day that commemorates the resurrection of our Savior, gifts are a way to say thank you to life and share the life that one knows. We have individual gifts; then we have the gifts baskets. What do we think of when we think of Easter? The eggs! The eggs are always the ones that I think of first when I think of this day.
